Your wholesale deal may cover several gas turbines at once, each with its own borescope files. If those files are inconsistent, undated or impossible to match to a serial number, you cannot compare units or price risk properly. Set One Media Standard for Every Unit
Require dated borescope stills and video for combustors, fuel nozzles, transition pieces and turbine blades on every unit in the lot. Use one standard for file names, so each file carries the serial number, inspection date, component and probe port.
Set lighting and orientation rules. Images should show the component clearly, with a reference such as a blade number or port position, so you can tell which stage and which part you are looking at. Dark or blurred images are not evidence.
Ask for an index that lists every file and what it shows. A lot of several units without an index is a pile of pictures, not an evidence pack.
Match Media to Records and Call Out Defects
Match serials, fired hours, starts and previous repair scope to each set of media. If the hours suggest a unit is near a hot-gas-path inspection, the images must show parts consistent with that age.
Ask the inspector to call out defects on the images themselves: cracks, coating loss, erosion, burn marks, tip rub and blocked cooling holes, each with a severity note. Clear call-outs let you compare units across the lot and price each one fairly.
Reject packs without clear lighting, orientation and defect call-outs. If one unit’s evidence is weak, separate it from the lot rather than let it ride on the others.
Keep the original files, not only compressed copies. Compression can blur fine cracks and coating detail, and an inspector reviewing a disputed finding later will need the full-resolution media. Ask the seller to supply originals with the index, and store them where your EPC and O&M teams can reach them.
