Wholesale GT Inspection Escrow

Wholesale GT Inspection Escrow

Your wholesale gas turbine deal uses escrow to protect both sides: funds are released when inspections confirm the equipment matches the contract. But if your hold points, inspection reports and commercial documents do not line up, the escrow agent cannot release, and your deal stalls.

That means a delayed handover, your equipment stranded in storage, inspectors flying back for repeat visits and a counterparty losing confidence in you. A single disagreement between an engineer’s report and a commercial invoice can put your whole transaction at risk.

USP&E Helps You Keep the Escrow Moving

Build one master equipment record before your inspection begins, with makes, models, serial numbers, dimensions and condition notes. Every inspection report, invoice and release document you issue should refer to that same record, so your escrow agent sees one consistent story.

Keep Your Escrow Pack Consistent

Define your hold points clearly in the contract: what must be inspected, by whom, against which criteria and what evidence releases each payment stage. Vague criteria such as good condition invite disputes. Specific checks, such as borescope findings, test run results and serial verification, give your escrow agent something objective to act on.

Agree your release clocks. Each hold point should have a deadline for inspection and a period for raising objections, so neither party can stall your deal indefinitely.

Put Frame 6B Evidence Inside the Escrow Pack

Build one master equipment record before you draft any document: make, model, serial numbers for every major component, dimensions, weights, inspection status and packing list. Every commercial invoice, certificate of origin, inspection certificate and bill of lading should then be generated from that record, so the same details appear everywhere.

Natural gas engines and used or new gas turbines in your lot need the same discipline. Group them clearly, with serials and crate markings matching the documents, so each item can be released without confusion.

Plan storage and preservation while funds sit in escrow. Equipment may wait weeks between inspection and release, so agree who maintains preservation, who insures the units and how condition is rechecked before shipment, so nothing deteriorates while your payment is being processed.

Choose inspectors you and your counterparty both trust, and agree their scope and report format in advance.

Add FX-45 Planning Notes for Later Wholesale Phases

Buyers planning AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators or gas turbines for compute projects may want later phases. Clear planning notes from you about future supply help them structure finance without adding commitments the escrow cannot support.

Plan pre-shipment inspection around your credit as well. If an independent inspection certificate is required, agree the inspector, the scope and the wording in advance, and schedule the visit early enough that any finding can be corrected before the vessel closes.

Your path from first call to reliable power

Your 3-step plan: 1. Share your contract terms, equipment list and escrow arrangement under NDA. 2. Get hold-point criteria, a master equipment record and inspection plan with EPC and O&M options. 3. Inspect, release, ship and deliver with one consistent file owned by one team.

  1. List required inspection hold points, escrow clauses, Incoterms, and which engineering exhibits must match commercial papers.
  2. Freeze document versions, serial cross-checks, escrow exhibits, and named Extreme Ownership contacts before booking transport.
  3. Complete inspection, packing, insurance, and release rehearsals before shipping windows lock.

Common questions

Why do inspection escrow deals stall?

USP&E sees escrow deals stall when hold-point criteria are vague or inspection reports and commercial documents describe equipment differently. The escrow agent then cannot release funds, equipment waits in storage and repeat inspections add cost and delay for both buyer and seller.

How should hold points be defined in an escrow contract?

USP&E recommends hold points that state what is inspected, by whom, against which objective criteria and what evidence releases each payment stage. Specific checks, such as borescope findings, test run results and serial verification, prevent disputes about vague terms like good condition.

What Frame 6B evidence supports an escrow release?

USP&E includes remanufacture records, inspection and test reports, preservation certificates and serial cross-checks for turbine, generator and auxiliaries when a remanufactured GE Frame 6B is in the deal. Inspectors can then confirm the evidence quickly instead of discovering problems late.

How fast can USP&E respond to an escrow inspection request?

USP&E can start as soon as you share contract terms, the equipment list and escrow arrangement. Engineers review documents and plan hold-point inspections first, so timing depends mainly on equipment access, record completeness and how quickly both parties agree the criteria.

What are release clocks in an escrow deal?

USP&E uses release clocks to set deadlines for each inspection and a fixed period for raising objections after the report. When the period ends without valid objection, funds are released, so neither buyer nor seller can stall the transaction indefinitely and the equipment keeps moving.
